Get Ready for the 63rd Annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships

From August 17 to 24, 2025, the Virginia Beach Oceanfront is set to transform into a vibrant hub of surf, sun, and spirited community fun as it hosts the 63rd Annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC). This longstanding tradition is not only the oldest continuously running surf contest in the world, but also a celebration of the East Coast surf culture born back in 1963.
A Showcase of Talented Surfers
This exciting event attracts surfers of all ages, from young "Menehunes"—a Hawaiian term for child surfers—to seasoned “Masters.” Participants will test their skills across various surfing disciplines, including both shortboard and longboard competitions. Whether you're a seasoned surfer or a spectator, the buzz of competition in the air is unmatched!

The ECSC isn’t just about catching waves; it’s a week-long beach festival packed with fun for everyone. Enjoy the thrilling Coastal Edge Skate 5K as skateboarders showcase their impressive stunts, or get ready for some jaw-dropping BMX displays that will have you on the edge of your beach chair. There’s also beach volleyball, flag football, and even a swimsuit contest that adds an element of fashion to the festivities!
Live Music and Vendor Village

Additionally, the Vendor Village will boast over 20 vendors, providing delicious food, cold drinks, and unique local products that capture the essence of Virginia Beach.
5K Run for All
For those looking to get active, the Coastal Edge ECSC 5K kicks off on August 24 at 7:00 AM. The race promises a scenic and flat course along the gorgeous Virginia Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk. Every finisher will receive a custom medal and commemorative tee—perfect keepsakes to remember this exciting day!
